How many test strips and CGM sensors a prescription needs for a 30- or 90-day supply.
Formulas
- Test strips = tests per day × days of supply.
- Vials = strips ÷ 50, rounded up (standard 50-count vials).
- CGM sensors = days of supply ÷ sensor wear days, rounded up.
Worked example
4 tests/day for 30 days → 120 strips = 3 vials. A 10-day-wear CGM for 30 days → 3 sensors.
Notes
- Payers commonly reimburse quantities tied to the documented testing frequency – the prescription and refill quantity should match it.
- Sensor wear time varies by product (e.g. 10, 14, or 15 days); use the wear time of the prescribed sensor.
- Add spare sensors per payer policy where allowed; this tool computes the exact-need minimum.
